Under HDB's Home Improvement Programme, the waste and soil discharge stacks are replaced when they are cast iron, a mix of cast iron and uPVC, or uPVC with leaks and cracks, and toilet upgrading is an optional item. HIP is for flats built up to 1997, and most Tampines blocks were completed by then. The rest of the plumbing in your flat stays yours to maintain.
Yes, we have done it in Tampines: we open the ceiling for access, take down the old unit, fit the new one, test the connections for leaks and close the ceiling back up. A storage heater replacement is from $500 on our guide prices with the unit included, and the electrical connection is by a Licensed Electrical Worker, quoted separately. Reaching a heater above a false ceiling adds to the work, so we look at the access before we price the job.
On the one-piece bowls we have fixed in Tampines, the fault was the cable flush pump, and we replaced the pump. The part depends on the model, so send us a photo of the bowl and its brand and we quote before we start. If the bowl itself has to go, a new toilet bowl set is from $380 on our guide prices.
